Death*: She died on 21 February 1937 in Dilley, Frio County, Texas, at age 90.⁵

Note*: She was from Baltimore, Maryland and spent much of her childhood on her parents' and grandparents' plantations. After the death of her first husband she moved to Annapolis, and after her second marriage the couple lived in Denver before moving to Texas in 1912. From her obituary in The Dilley [Tex.] Herald: "Mrs. Welch was 'Granny' not only to her own grandchildren and great grandchildren but to every child who knew her and Granny never refused to tell them the stories they asked for. Her faith in God's unfailing good, her desire to comfort and help all who needed what she could give, the kind word she had for everyone, will cause her memory to live always in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.^6,5
