Richard Bush
M, ID# 515, b. circa 1725, d. circa 1 February 1803
- Birth*: He was born circa 1725 in Essex County, Virginia.1
- Marriage*: He married Mary Prescott, daughter of William Prescott and Mary Smith, circa 1750 in North Carolina.2
- Death*: He died circa 1 February 1803 in Edgefield County, South Carolina.3
- Note*: He moved to Dobbs County, N.C. about 1748 and about 1770 to Edgefield County, S.C., where in a 1787 tax roll he was shown as owning 150 acres and one slave. In 1786 he was compensated for having supplied provision and forage for General Green's army from his plantation during the American Revolution. In 1795 Patience Hicks voluntarily apprenticed herself to "Richard Bush, Sr., Citizen of Edisto, Planter, Edgefield County, South Carolina," for seven years. At least one source states that his parents are Bibby and Susannah Bush, but others believe that that relationship is conjecture at best.4,5
