William Berry Taylor

  • Note*: He was orphaned at age 13 and lived with the Fletcher family until enlisting in Company D, 3rd South Carolina Infantry, at the beginning of the Civil War. He served until the end of the war and was sent by General Lee to inform the troops of the surrender of the Confederate Army. During World War I he sold what became part of Love Field airport in Dallas to the U.S. Government.5,6

He was a native of Mississippi and had resided at Cochran's chapel, Dallas County, for more than thirty-five years. Surviving are his wife and six sons, J. L. Harrison, R. S. Harrison, B. S. Harrison and E. L. Harrison of Dallas, St. Elmo Harrison of Celina and J. W. Harrison of Hebron.
       "Funeral services will be held at Cochran's Chapel Tuesday afternoon, the body being conveyed there by Ed C. Smith & Bro. Burial will be in the cemetery of the chapel."12
