HEADQUARTERS 16TH ARMORED DIVISION
12 June 1945
CITATION FOR BRONZE STAR MEDAL
Major ROGER F. BARTLETT, JR., (Army Serial No. 0307438), Ordnance (Armored), 137 Armored Ordnance Maintenance Battalion, while serving with the Army of the United States, distinguished himself by meritorious service in connection with military operations, not involving participation in aerial flight, against an enemy of the United States. During the period 18 April 1945 to 10 May 1945, Major BARTLETT, in his official capacity as Battalion Shop Officer and Division Maintenance Officer, in spite of extremely long supply lines, poor weather conditions, lack of sorting space and facilities, kept the Division's vehicles maintained and moving during its advance into Germany and Czechoslovakia. Major BARTLETT rendered his services under most trying and hazardous conditions, giving no thought to his welfare. His constant cheerfulness, spirit of cooperation, and devotion to duty were a constant source of inspiration to the men and officers of this Division.
